Carlos A. Joly Emeritus Professor at the University of Campinas, Brazil, Chair of the Brazilian Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services/BPBES, and Editor in Chief of the on line open access journal Biota Neotropica. From 2012 to 2019 he was Chair of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services/IPBES. Main mentor of the BIOTA/FAPESP Program he was on the stirring committee of the Program from 1999 to 2022. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Science and of the São Paulo State Academy of Science.
