The academic book and the scientific dynamics

Academic books are the essential tools that drive the scientific dynamics, sharing knowledge, challenging paradigms, sharing knowledge, challenging paradigms, and stimulating the incessant search for answers for the advancement of humanity.

About

The university textbook plays a key role in the scientific dynamic, providing a solid foundation of knowledge and serving as a reliable source of information for students and researchers. These books are carefully crafted by experts in their respective fields, offering comprehensive and up-to-date content ranging from fundamental concepts to the latest advances in each field of knowledge. In addition, university textbooks often feature a didactic approach, with practical examples, exercises, and case studies, to facilitate learning and promote a deep understanding of the topics covered. Through reading and studying these books, students are exposed to critical thinking, the scientific method, and academic rigidity, developing essential skills for the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge. In this way, the university textbook plays a crucial role in scientific progress, feeding the dynamics of research, the exchange of information, and the continuous advancement of knowledge in all academic areas.

PhD in Linguistics (UNICAMP), Associate Professor at the School of Languages of the Universidade Federal do Amazonas. Professor of the Graduate Program in Language (UFAM). Member of LAPCRI – Laboratório de Psicanálise, Clínica e Criação – FAPSI/UFAM. Leader of the Research Group Discourse and Social Practices - UFAM/CNPq. Writer, author of eight books. Director of the UFAM Publishing House (EDUA).

Jézio Hernani Bomfim Gutierre

He has a degree in Economics from the Universidade de São Paulo (1977) and a PhD in Philosophy from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2000). He is currently a professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho in the areas of Epistemology and Philosophy of Language. From 2001 to 2015 he was the Executive Editor of Fundação Editora da Unesp. Since 2015 he has been the CEO of Fundação Editora da Unesp and, in parallel, he is the publisher of the same institution. He has been a member of the SciELO Books Managing Council since its creation in 2012. In 2023, he assumed the presidency of Associação Brasileira de Editoras Universitárias (ABEU).

Carlos Alberto Gianotti

Carlos Alberto Gianotti

Carlos Alberto Gianotti has a background in physics, a discipline he taught for over thirty years. In 1993 he founded the UNISINOS Publishing House (of the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos, RS), of which he was the executive editor until January 2023, having published more than a thousand national or translated titles. He was a member of several boards of ABEU during these years. He has written dozens of essays and is the author of the collections “Um rio circunferencial” (WS Editor) and “Falar o que seja é inútil” (Circuito Editorial), and coauthor of “Um livro: do autor ao leitor” (ABEU). He lives in Porto Alegre.

Rita Virginia Argollo

Rita Virginia Argollo

She has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), a specialization in Regional History from the Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC), a master's degree in Education from UFBA, and a doctorate in Education, also from UFBA, when she joined the Curriculum and (In)Formation research line at GEC – Grupo de Pesquisas sobre Educação, Comunicação e Tecnologias. She works mainly on the following themes: communication, education and technologies; digital culture; television; journalism and video. She has experience in telejournalism, public relations, audiovisual production, teaching in higher education, implementation and management of courses. Currently she is dedicated to studying journalism on the web. In parallel, she has served as director of Editus – Editora da UESC since 2012, was Regional Director of ABEU-Nordeste (2015-2019), President of the Associação Brasileira das Editoras Universitárias (ABEU) from 2019 to 2023 and is currently Vice-President of ABEU.
