Participou da cria\u00e7\u00e3o da Internet no Chile e foi Diretor de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o Cient\u00edfica do CONICYT, onde tamb\u00e9m atuou como Diretor Executivo Adjunto desta institui\u00e7\u00e3o. Nesta capacidade, Alberto Cabezas promoveu e incentivou o SciELO Chile, juntamente com Ana Maria Pratt, Coordenadora do SciELO no pa\u00eds. Por ocasi\u00e3o da celebra\u00e7\u00e3o dos 50 t\u00edtulos na cole\u00e7\u00e3o, em 2006, Alberto Cabezas falou sobre a import\u00e2ncia do evento e classificou SciELO como um exemplo e modelo de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o nacional com os editores cient\u00edficos, institui\u00e7\u00f5es e sociedades cient\u00edficas da Regi\u00e3o para o desenvolvimento da comunica\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica e a democratiza\u00e7\u00e3o da informa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p><p>Cabezas foi Secret\u00e1rio Executivo de LA Referencia \u2013 <em>Red de repositorios de acceso abierto a la ciencia<\/em> &#8211; desde seu in\u00edcio, em 2013, projeto que consolidou desde a iniciativa inicial em um empreendimento sustent\u00e1vel e promoveu pol\u00edticas de acesso aberto \u00e0 informa\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica na Am\u00e9rica Latina. Em 2006, ocupou o cargo de Diretor Adjunto de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o e Secret\u00e1rio da \u00e1rea de Tecnologias de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o e Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o do <em>Fondo de Fomento al Desarrollo Cient\u00edfico y Tecnol\u00f3gico<\/em> (Fondef). Nesta fun\u00e7\u00e3o, ele gerenciou in\u00fameros projetos de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento. Atuou como Gerente de Projetos e Gerente de Comunica\u00e7\u00f5es, sendo respons\u00e1vel por projetos de Internet.
