Jacqueline Leta is an associate professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Since 1994, she has developed research in the field of Bibliometrics / Scientometrics, with emphasis on the Brazilian scientific output, mainly in issues related to Science & Health and Science & Gender. She was a member of the Permanent Commission of Indicators of S & T (2003) and of the Evaluation Committee of the Research Groups Directory in Brazil (2010) both at the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. She organized the 1st Brazilian Meeting on Bibliometric and Scientometric (2008) and the 12th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics (2009) both in Rio de Janeiro. At the present, she is a member of the editorial board of Scientometrics journal and of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) and she coordinates the research project Brazilian scientific communication: mapping factors that contribute to choosing open access journals (awarded with a grant from Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnológico).
