Louise van Heerden has been the SciELO SA Operations Manager at ASSAf since 2009 and is responsible for the growth, quality and management of the SciELO SA collection. Since 2009 the total number of titles has grown to 103. The collection aims to raise the visibility, discoverability and accessibility of South African open access scholarly journals and to encourage the implementation of global best-practices in publishing. She has a master’s degree in information science and has 30 years’ experience on working with databases. This year she is facilitating a series of webinars for new and experienced editors in South Africa to provide a platform for discussion and Q&As on important publishing issues, such as editorial policies, editorial processes, ASSAf’s Code of Best Practice for journal editors and peer reviewers, etc.
